Hi there, I’m Melissa.
I am on my own grief journey, and I know how deeply it can affect every part of life. I lost my husband, Monte, of 32 years to cancer five years ago. Since his death, I have continued to learn about how to support those who are caring for loved ones and grieving for them afterwards.
My approach is grounded in authenticity, empathy, and a genuine desire to help you find healing.
Thank you for trusting me to be a part of your grief journey. Let’s heal – together!
Before Monte’s death, I had been working as a School Social Worker and a Hospice Volunteer. Once I became a widow in the traumatic way I did as well as having frustrating encounters with medical professionals and living with hopelessness, I became committed to sharing my experiences with others. I also seek to journey alongside of those who are anticipating a loved one’s death to act in the death doula role, for both the dying patient and their loved ones. My goal is to create a space where you feel truly seen and supported because I understand how powerful it can be to have your grief truly witnessed.
“What I experienced was that I got a lot of advice from people, but it didn’t mean very much. It was not very helpful. People who are grieving need to have their grief witnessed.”
“It’s not about finding out why you’re sick, or what’s wrong with you…this is a difficult time, and what I want to do is make you more comfortable and it could even be a transformative experience.”
“A Certified Grief Educator is committed to providing the highest level of grief support through education, experience, and insights into the often unacknowledged rocky terrain of grief.“
