The most difficult part of my personal loss was not having someone to talk with who had been through the loss of a spouse; from the beginning of his diagnosis to his death 13 months later, I was overwhelmed with every emotion possible. In this phase of helping, I use David Kessler’s techniques of grief support as well as my training as a Social Worker in deep, active non-judgemental listening that allows you to plan for how to support yourself as a caregiver and anticipatory griever which can be a very difficult path to navigate without help. During this period of the grief experience, it is very difficult for other family members and loved ones to provide support as they are all having their own reactions to the idea of the loss that is coming. I can be an objective ear and also suggest strategies that allow you to identify and name your experiences and get a short period of respite from carrying the weight solely on your shoulders.
I look forward to working with you. I am deeply committed to assisting you in all aspects of your bereavement and/or end-of-life care, whether you are facing your own or a loved one’s loss or are living with the grief after a loved one’s death. It is important that we have a clear understanding about our work together.
My services are grounded in both professional training and certifications as well as my profound, lived experience with grief.
